At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.
Introduction:As an Applied Physicist, you will join the ATLAS Group at CERN and be part of the team which is working on the upgrade of the muon spectrometer of the ATLAS detector. In this upgrade you will play a crucial role, leading the electronics integration in the new RPC detectors to be used in the Inner layer of the Barrel Muon Spectrometer.
An important part of the job will be the installation and commissioning of the new detectors in the ATLAS cavern. Your experience in commissioning and operations of gaseous detectors will be a strong asset which coupled with your versatility, and strong team spirit will be essential to the success of the ATLAS muon upgrade program.
