Organizational context:
This Programme Officer position is within the Beyond Lab at the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG). The role reports to the Chief of Section, Political Affairs, and collaborates with UNCTAD on joint initiatives. The primary focus is on implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programmes related to participatory policy innovation and long-term sustainable development.
Job purpose:
The Programme Officer will be instrumental in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes focused on "Beyond GDP" and rethinking development systems. This involves monitoring project progress, analyzing trends related to the 2030 Agenda and SDGs, and contributing to policy development for inclusive and participatory policy making. The role requires researching and presenting information, preparing various written outputs such as background papers and reports, and providing substantive support for meetings and conferences.
Additionally, the officer will coordinate budget and funding activities, prepare relevant documentation, and maintain engagement with diverse stakeholders, including governments and civil society organizations, to ensure effective programme execution and support sustainable development goals.
Responsibilities:

The role requires researching and presenting information from various sources, and assisting in policy development by analyzing trends related to the 2030 Agenda and SDGs, with an emphasis on inclusive policy making.
The Programme Officer will prepare written outputs like background papers and reports, provide substantive support for meetings and conferences, and coordinate budget and funding activities. Furthermore, the position entails engaging with project partners and stakeholders to ensure effective programme implementation and performing other required duties.
Education:
An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree combined with relevant experience may substitute for an advanced degree.
Work experience:
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in project or programme management, administration, or a related area is required. Experience with in the UN system or a similar international organization is desirable, as is experience in preparing analytical inputs, sustainable development/SDGs, resource mobilization, and partnerships.
Skills:
Professionalism, communication, planning, and organizing. Ability to conduct research and analysis, manage priorities, and prepare written outputs. Proficiency in English and French is required;
German is desirable.
