Data Science Manager, Data Analyst

Purpose of the Position
The Security & Crisis Management Research & Development Associate will play a key role in supporting three core areas of the team’s mandate. First, the position contributes to data analytics and research functions; second, it supports the organization-wide transition to new security management applications; third, the role includes engagement and support on security-related matters for our partners across the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
In the area of data analytics and research, the Associate works collaboratively to compile, prepare, validate, and visualize the ICRC’s weekly, quarterly, and annual security and safety incident data, as well as minimum security requirements data. The role also involves producing ad hoc analyses and incident-related reports in response to requests from SCMS colleagues.
In addition, the Associate supports the human and technical change management processes associated with the transition to new security management tools. This includes contributing to the planning, coordination, and implementation of change initiatives, and accompanying colleagues worldwide as they adopt and integrate the new tools into their operational practices.
The Associate also provides support, engagement and accompaniment to RCRC Movement partners on a range of issues covering tools, research, operational security and guidance in emergencies.
Main Duties & Responsibilities IThe position is closely involved in the research and development of technology solutions for operational security management in the field. It combines hands‑on work with security and safety datasets relating to humanitarian personnel with the preparation of analyses, data visualizations, and reporting products for internal and global stakeholders.
Within the SCMS unit, the Associate supports platforms that enable the management of security across the ICRC. This initiative brings together several advanced platforms designed to manage different aspects of staff security in conflict‑affected environments.
As part of the support team, the role requires strong logical and deductive thinking to navigate the ICRC’s technology landscape and databases in order to feed, maintain, and enhance the platform. In addition, the incumbent contributes to the compilation, preparation, validation, and visualization of the ICRC’s quarterly security and safety incident data, including data related to Minimum Security Requirements.
Main Duties & Responsibilities II- Supports the planning, coordination, and accompaniment of change management processes related to the adoption of new project tools across the global organization, as colleagues worldwide progressively appropriate the tools.
- Generates narrative analyses of data, including assessments of trends, highlights, areas of concern, and significant developments.
- Shares analyses and assessments with SCMS colleagues, Regional staff, and Operational Management to support data interpretation and the identification of action points.
- Ensures that dashboards are user‑friendly and present all relevant information in a coherent and interactive manner.
- Liaises closely with SCMS counterparts, other relevant departments as well as RCRC Movement Partners to ensure effective support for tools and products.
- Explores opportunities to research and develop the broader value of security data in relation to the work of other partners and security organizations.
The Associate will work closely with the Security and Crisis Management Advisers within the SCMS Unit. The Associate will work with an advisory group from both field and HQ that will provide input and participate in the transition to the new platform. The incumbent will report to the Adviser for Research at the SCMS Unit.
Desired Profile and Skills- Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in related social and/or technical sciences, and up to two years of relevant professional experience (including internships or volunteer work).
