What we are looking forWe welcome applicants who have already completed (or are in the process of completing) at least one degree in law. Candidates should demonstrate consistent academic excellence. A proven interest in the field of international arbitration is required, and international arbitration experience in private practice and/or at an arbitral institution is an advantage. Candidates who demonstrate a keen interest, as well as substantial knowledge and/or experience, in the fields of dispute resolution, international trade, and/or public international law are particularly welcome.
It is also preferable, although not required, for candidates to be qualified lawyers. We look for individuals with spark, enthusiasm and a real passion for their chosen profession.
Our trainee lawyers gain invaluable experience by working alongside leading arbitration practitioners on complex, multi‑faceted disputes. They have the opportunity to put into practice their intellectual, analytical, problem‑solving and drafting skills and to integrate fully into counsel teams assigned to particular cases. The work is wide‑ranging and includes legal research, the analysis of facts to support legal claims, and meaningful contributions to the preparation of procedural and substantive submissions.
Trainees may also be called upon to assist senior lawyers with their arbitrator appointments or to work with the office’s International Trade practice.
