Reporting to the Corporate Secretary and General Counsel, the Senior Manager Legal Operations and Administration (SMLOA) is a skilled professional with knowledge, skills and experience in legal operations in in‑house legal departments. The SMLOA is responsible for the efficient and effective management and operation of IATA’s legal department systems and procedures including IATA’s contract tool, legal matter management system and the provision of administrative support to the General Counsel and the lawyers in the legal team.
The SMLOA reports to the General Counsel and leads an experienced team located in Montreal and Geneva with dedicated administrative responsibilities including the Business Operations Coordinator, Legal Administrator and Paralegal.
- Leads the Legal Operations and Administration team within the Legal Services department to ensure performance is aligned with IATA’s strategic objectives;
- People management for the Legal Ops and Admin team;
- Collaborates with the Directors Legal Services and General Counsel on developing improvements, implementing change and management initiatives across the Legal Work streams to enhance the day‑to‑day efficiency and effectiveness of the team;
- Developing strong relationships within IATA with those interacting with IATA’s legal processes, ERP, contract tool;
- Developing strong relationships with IATA’s external law firms’ legal operations team and legal vendors;
- Managing, implementing and reviewing technology including IATA’s contract tool, matter management systems and online legal research resources;
- Leading projects to improve efficiency in the delivery of legal services;
- Relevant qualifications in legal operations, legal administration or law;
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in legal operations or administration in an in‑house legal department or equivalent in increasingly senior roles;
- Commitment to personal development and developing team members;
- Excellent command of English;
- Superior written and oral communication skills;
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills;
- Effective, confident communicator and a team player.
