Organizational context:
The International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the UN and WTO, focuses on trade-related technical cooperation in developing countries. This role is within the EU-funded "Support to Business Friendly and Inclusive National and Regional Policies and Strengthening Productive Capabilities and Value Chains" Programme, specifically focusing on the micro-pillar of the project in Liberia, aiming to enhance value chain operators' competitiveness.
Job purpose:
The Consultant will be responsible for delivering measurable outreach, knowledge-sharing, and communication outputs for the ACP Business-Friendly Coffee Programme in Liberia. This involves developing and implementing a comprehensive communications and visibility plan, creating engaging content for digital and social media, documenting programme activities and successes, and producing a project newsletter and impact video. The role aims to enhance project visibility, disseminate key messages, highlight achievements, and promote coffee as a business opportunity, ultimately contributing to the programme's objectives and the development of Liberia's coffee sector.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a communications and visibility plan, including a content calendar for digital and social media platforms. Document key programme activities through high-quality photographs, videos, and social media content. Identify and create compelling human-interest stories, testimonials, and impact stories from beneficiaries and stakeholders. Produce and disseminate a project newsletter and implement social media awareness campaigns. Create a short project documentary/impact video and support media engagement through press releases and briefs.
Consolidate all communication outputs into a final package and provide a summary of performance and recommendations for future visibility efforts.
Education:
An undergraduate university degree in communication, social sciences, business administration, economics, or a related field is required. Extensive relevant experience may substitute for a degree. Practical audio-visual training is considered an asset.
Work experience:
A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in radio communication for agri-business projects is required. Experience in implementing EU-funded projects, working with international organizations or national development agencies, and knowledge of the Liberian institutional context are highly desirable.
Skills:
Media production and live broadcasting, content development and storytelling, interviewing and communication, digital and multimedia skills (including video editing and social media management), and knowledge of the coffee sector and experience working with farmers and local communities.
