Organizational context
The International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the UN and WTO, focuses on trade-related technical cooperation in developing countries. This role is within the Inclusive Agribusiness Systems Unit, supporting an EU-funded project aimed at enhancing business-friendly policies and strengthening value chains in ACP countries, specifically focusing on Liberia's coffee sector.
Job purposeThe Consultant will be responsible for delivering measurable outreach, knowledge-sharing, and communication outputs for the ACP Business-Friendly Coffee Programme in Liberia. This involves developing and implementing a comprehensive communications and visibility plan, creating engaging content for digital and social media, documenting programme activities and impact, and producing various communication materials like newsletters, success stories, and a project documentary. The role also includes supporting media engagement and providing recommendations for sustained programme visibility.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute a communications and visibility plan, including a content calendar, for the ACP Business-Friendly Coffee Programme.
- Produce high-quality photographs, videos, and social media content documenting programme activities and achievements.
- Identify and document success stories and testimonials from beneficiaries and stakeholders.
- Create and disseminate project newsletters and implement social media awareness campaigns focused on the coffee sector.
- Produce a project documentary and support media engagement through press releases and briefs.
- Consolidate all communication outputs into a final report and digital archive, and provide performance analysis and recommendations.
An undergraduate university degree in communication, social sciences, business administration, economics, or a related field is required. Extensive relevant experience may substitute for a degree. Practical audio-visual training is an asset. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential; knowledge of a local Liberian language is advantageous.
Work experienceA minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in radio communication for agri-business projects is required. Experience in implementing EU-funded projects, working with international organizations or national development agencies, and knowledge of Liberia's institutional context are highly desirable.
SkillsMedia production and live broadcasting, content development and storytelling, interviewing and communication, digital and multimedia skills (video editing, social media management), knowledge of the coffee sector, and experience working with farmers and local communities.
