Long Term Agreement; LTA) Engagement of Individual Consultants as Senior Climate Experts

Job purpose:

This Long-Term Agreement (LTA) aims to identify and pre-qualify senior climate partnerships experts to provide specialized support to UNICEF. The purpose is to ensure UNICEF has timely access to high‑calibre expertise for strategic, technical, advisory, analytical, facilitation, and capacity‑building services in climate finance, partnerships, fundraising, resource mobilization, climate adaptation, advocacy, and climate‑related events. This support is crucial for advancing UNICEF's climate partnerships strategy, strengthening engagement with diverse public and private sector partners, developing innovative climate finance mechanisms, enhancing positioning on climate adaptation and child‑centered climate action, and bolstering contributions to international climate policy and advocacy efforts.

The LTA will facilitate UNICEF's ability to influence the climate finance agenda, attract strategic partners, and mobilize significantly greater resources for children, contributing to the achievement of Strategic Plan Impact Goal 5.

Responsibilities:
Under the framework of this Long-Term Agreement, individual consultants will be engaged on an as‑needed basis to provide expert support in areas such as climate finance mobilization, partnership development, strategic positioning, proposal development, donor and investor engagement, intelligence gathering, policy analysis, strategic communications, and advocacy. Consultants will be expected to contribute to strengthening UNICEF's engagement with a wide range of stakeholders including private and public sector donors, climate funds, development banks, philanthropists, corporations, foundations, and investors.

They will support the development of effective climate finance mechanisms and resource mobilization approaches, and enhance UNICEF's positioning on climate adaptation, resilience, and child‑centered climate action. Furthermore, consultants will contribute to UNICEF's participation in and exploration of opportunities within major climate‑related events and processes, such as UNFCCC processes and COPs. This includes providing strategic advice, analytical support, and capacity building to UNICEF teams to maximize visibility, strategic representation, knowledge exchange, and intelligence gathering, ultimately contributing to the mobilization of substantially greater resources for children and the achievement of UNICEF's climate‑related goals.

Education:

Advanced university degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, climate change, economics, finance, international development, public policy, or a related discipline. Specialized certifications or training in climate finance, climate adaptation, or resource mobilization are highly desirable.

Work experience:

A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in climate finance, climate partnerships, fundraising and resource mobilization, climate adaptation, advocacy, or related fields. Proven experience working with international organizations, governments, or the private sector on climate‑related initiatives is essential.
