Position Description Postdoctoral Position in Quantum Dynamics — University of Geneva
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the group of Romain Vasseur in the Department of Theoretical Physics at the University of Geneva.
The position is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
- nonequilibrium quantum dynamics
- measurement-induced phenomena
- open quantum systems
- quantum information and complexity
- tensor-network approaches
- statistical-mechanics approaches to inference and decoding problems
- entanglement dynamics
- quantum chaos
- hydrodynamics
- related problems in quantum many-body physics
The precise research direction will remain flexible and will be shaped by the interests and expertise of the successful candidate.
The appointment is expected to begin in Fall 2027, although the starting date is negotiable. The appointment will be for two years, with the possibility of extension contingent on funding availability and performance.
The postdoctoral researcher will join a highly active environment in theoretical quantum matter at the University of Geneva, with close interactions across the Department of Theoretical Physics and the Geneva Quantum Center. The position offers substantial freedom to develop independent projects while engaging in ongoing collaborations within the group and the broader Geneva quantum community.
Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in physics or a closely related field and have a strong record in theoretical physics. Candidates with backgrounds in quantum many-body physics, statistical mechanics, quantum information, tensor networks, condensed matter theory, or related areas are particularly encouraged to apply.
