Position: Editorial Coordinator for Open Research Europe (RCS-SIS-OSLD)
Location: Genf

Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Editorial Coordinator with a strong scientific background to work on the Open Research Europe (ORE) platform soon to be hosted  part of a growing team you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing editorial policies and processes while coordinating with scientific advisory boards, outsourced editorial partners and production teams applying excellent scientific judgment to evaluate research quality.

Functions

Editorial Policy Implementation
  • Implement editorial procedures for ORE following policies developed in coordination with ORE governance and Scientific Advisory Board.
  • Ensure consistent application of editorial standards across all submissions.
  • Suggest adaptation of policies as needed based on operational feedback and evolving best practices.
Workflow Coordination & Oversight
  • Oversee editorial workflows with external partners from pre-publication checks through peer review.
  • Collaborate closely with the Production team to ensure seamless manuscript processing.
  • Monitor workflow efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement.
Quality Assurance
  • Ensure adherence to publication ethics and research integrity standards.
  • Monitor editorial quality delivered by external partners.
  • Implement quality control measures throughout the editorial process.
  • Address complex editorial cases requiring expert scientific judgment.
Qualifications

PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of a scientific domain such as Life Sciences Physical Sciences Social Sciences.

Specialised training or education in scholarly publishing is an advantage.

Experience
  • Extensive experience as an academic / scientific journal editor ideally in interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary publishing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing peer-review processes and models (including the Publish-Review-Curate (PRC) model) and in editorial decision-making.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing editorial policies.
  • Familiarity with scholarly publishing standards and best practices (COPE ICMJE DOAJ criteria).
  • Hands‑on experience with Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform is an advantage.

Spoken and written English with a commitment to learn French.
