Senior Accountant

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to provide support to our accounting team, be designated to specific clients, and handle the compilation of management and financial statements for those clients.

• Processing invoices and bank transactions.
• Reconciliation of bank accounts.
• Reconciliation of debtors and creditors.
• Preparation of general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with balance sheet reconciliations.
• Preparation of year‑to‑date VAT reconciliations.
• Completion and submission of VAT returns and payments.
• Handling of BURS VAT reviews and audits.
• Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting team.
• Preparation of management accounts.
• Preparation of financial statements.
• Prepare and compile audit working files for clients that need audits.
• Support during independent reviews or audit engagements of customers.
• Review of junior accountants’ work.
• Monitoring the performance.

• Degree in Accounting.
• 5 years of experience.
• Extensive understanding of accounting practices and procedures.
• Extensive knowledge of payroll administration.
• Extensive knowledge of the VAT laws, administration and VAT reconciliations.
• E‑Services knowledge.
• Basic knowledge of IFRS for SMEs.
• Intermediate e‑filing knowledge.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience compiling and independently reviewing financial statements and compiling management statements.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Previous experience working on Sage Online, Sage Pastel, Xero and Simple Pay or similar online payroll software.
• Fully bilingual:
  English and Afrikaans.
