Intermediate Phase Teacher

Position: INTERMEDIATE PHASE TEACHER

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching Grades 4–6, expertise in multiple Intermediate Phase subjects, and a commitment to fostering critical thinking and subject mastery in older children.

Note: This role requires the ability to manage a classroom of older learners, requiring effective organizational skills, high energy levels for engaging lessons, and the ability to maintain discipline and lead extracurricular activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and implement stimulating and subject-appropriate lessons according to the CAPS curriculum for Grades 4-6.
• Develop critical skills and content knowledge in Intermediate Phase subjects, including (but not limited to)
  Languages, Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Technology, and Social Sciences
  .
• Create an engaging, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes intellectual curiosity, application of knowledge, and responsible citizenship.
• Assess and monitor learners’ progress rigorously across all subjects, providing constructive feedback and individualized support to facilitate the transition from Foundation Phase.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents to support the holistic development and academic success of each learner.
• Manage classroom dynamics, maintain discipline, and contribute to school life through involvement in extra‑mural activities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
• Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate older learners toward academic excellence.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Ability to relate well to pre‑adolescent children and foster independence and critical thinking.
• Be a dedicated team player committed to professional development.

Qualifications &

Experience:

• Matric or equivalent.
• A
  Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree or relevant professional teaching qualification specializing in the Intermediate Phase (Grades 4–6).
• Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same and/or similar type of position and environment.
• Passion for subject‑based education and a commitment to providing high‑quality learning experiences.
• SACE registration is compulsory.
• Police clearance required.
