We are a premium Pre-Primary school offering high-quality education and care for children aged 3 months to 6 years. Our school takes an evidence-based, learner-centred approach using the High Scope curriculum. We are a growth-oriented, values-driven organisation looking for passionate people to join our team.
Purpose of the Role:Responsible for the growth, sensory development, and overall well-being of children in their class (aged between 1 to 2 years of age). This role focuses on bridging the gap between infancy and early childhood through structured play and nurturing routines.
Key Responsibilities:- Holistic Care: Assume all educational and caring responsibilities for children in your class, including feeding and hygiene routines.
- Trust & Security: Promote feelings of security and trust through a safe, loving, and fun environment where toddlers feel confident to explore.
- High Scope Integration: Use the High Scope learner-centred approach to plan sensory and messy play activities that stimulate development at an appropriate level.
- Parent Partnership: Communicate regularly and honestly with parents regarding daily routines, developmental milestones (walking, talking, social skills), and overall well-being.
- Collaborative Teamwork: Work positively with other staff members to plan age-appropriate activities and maintain school-wide standards.
- Professional Growth: Participate in regular development sessions and reflect on teaching practice to support ongoing personal growth.
- Safety: Ensure the classroom is a hazard-free environment tailored to the curious and active nature of 1–2 year olds.
Note:
This is a physically demanding role. You will be required to stand for large portions of the day, bend, run, sit on the floor, lift children, and actively play in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Qualifications:- Education: Relevant Early Childhood Development (ECD) qualification (NQF level 4 or 5 preferred).
- First Aid: Current First Aid certification is a significant advantage.
- Security: Clear criminal record.
- 2–4 years experience teaching or caring for children in the 1–2 year age bracket.
- Proven understanding of toddler developmental milestones.
- Patience: An abundance of calm and kindness for the “toddler phase.”
- Love for Children: A genuine passion that drives your daily interactions.
- Growth Mindset: A desire to learn and adapt to new educational methods.
- Resilience: The ability to remain energetic and professional throughout a busy school day.
