Remote Solar Project Developer - Energy

Our client, a progressive leader in the Energy sector, is looking for a motivated and experienced Remote Solar Project Developer. • Identify and assess potential sites for utility-scale and distributed solar projects across various regions.
• Conduct thorough site evaluations, including solar resource assessment, land availability, and interconnection feasibility.
• Negotiate land leases, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and other contractual agreements with landowners and off-takers.
• Develop detailed project proposals, financial models, and investment cases to secure internal approvals and external financing.
• Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, legal, finance) and external stakeholders (utilities, regulators, community members) throughout the development lifecycle.
• Manage the permitting process and ensure compliance with local, regional, and national regulations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including landowners, government officials, and community leaders.
• Stay informed about market trends, policy changes, and competitive activities within the renewable energy sector.
• Track project milestones and proactively address any challenges or risks that may arise during development.

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• 5+ years of direct experience in renewable energy project development, with a strong focus on solar PV.
• Demonstrated success in originating and closing solar projects, including site acquisition and PPA negotiation.
• Solid understanding of solar technology, project finance, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to develop robust business cases.
• Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a talent for building rapport and trust.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently in a remote setting.
• Familiarity with the South African energy market and regulatory environment is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in project management software and CRM systems.
