Drilling Engineer - Offshore Operations

Our client is seeking a skilled Drilling Engineer to join their operations team, focusing on offshore exploration and production activities in the Western Cape region. This role is critical for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling campaigns. You will be responsible for the planning, execution, and monitoring of all drilling operations, ensuring compliance with stringent safety and environmental standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with field teams and onshore support personnel to troubleshoot challenges and optimize drilling performance. This position requires a hands‑on approach and the ability to make critical decisions in a demanding operational environment.

• Plan and design drilling programs , including wellbore trajectories, casing designs, and cementing strategies.
• Supervise drilling operations on offshore rigs, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and operational procedures.
• Manage drilling fluid systems, directional drilling services, and other associated drilling operations.
• Conduct daily progress meetings with rig crews and onshore management to report on operations and address issues.
• Perform post-drilling analysis and provide recommendations for future well designs and operational improvements.
• Ensure efficient use of resources and manage drilling-related costs effectiveea.

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Drilling Engineer , with significant offshore experience.
• Proven knowledge of drilling equipment, technologies, and associated risks.
• Experience with directional drilling and managed pressure drilling (MPD) techniques is a plus.
• Strong understanding of well control principles and safety management systems.
