Senior Mining Engineer

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Mining Engineer to lead critical projects and strategic planning within their operations near George. This role involves overseeing the design, development, and implementation of safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining methods. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring optimal resource extraction while adhering to stringent environmental and safety standards in the Western Cape region.

The successful candidate will bring extensive experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a forward-thinking approach to mine planning and operational excellence.

• Develop and implement long-term and short-term mine plans, including production scheduling and resource allocation.
• Oversee the design and selection of mining equipment and technology to enhance productivity and safety.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects and expansions.
• Monitor mining operations, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Mentor and guide junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in the mining industry, with a focus on mine planning and operations.
• Proven experience with mine design software and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of various mining methods (e.g., open-pit, underground).
• Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration is highly advantageous.
