Senior Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Engineer

Our client, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Engineer to join their operations in George, Western Cape . This role is critical in optimizing and maintaining manufacturing processes to ensure the efficient, safe, and compliant production of high-quality pharmaceutical products. You will be responsible for process design, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering or mechanical engineering, coupled with extensive experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of new pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Optimize existing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, yield, and reduce costs while maintaining quality standards.
• Develop and execute process validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ) and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., cGMP).
• Troubleshoot manufacturing process deviations and equipment malfunctions, implementing effective corrective actions.
• Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing operations teams.
• Manage equipment installation, qualification, and maintenance programs.
• Conduct process hazard analyses and implement safety improvements.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Research & Development, and other departments to support product lifecycle management.
• Stay current with new manufacturing technologies and industry best practices.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of cGMP regulations and pharmaceutical manufacturing principles.
• Proven experience with process validation, equipment qualification, and sterile manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of process control systems and automation.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective project management and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead cross-functional projects.
