Industrial Electrical Engineer

Our client, a prominent manufacturing and processing company in George, Western Cape , is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrical Engineer . This role is integral to maintaining and enhancing the electrical infrastructure that powers our operations. You will be responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems within our industrial facilities. The position involves a hybrid work arrangement, requiring regular on-site presence to manage operations and engage with maintenance teams, alongside opportunities for off‑site design and analysis work.

We are looking for a hands‑on engineer who can ensure the reliability and efficiency of our plant's electrical systems, contributing directly to our production output and safety standards.

• Design, implement, and modify electrical systems and control panels for industrial machinery and processes.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on electrical equipment, PLCs, VFDs, and motor control centers.
• Ensure all electrical installations and upgrades comply with safety regulations, codes, and industry best practices.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with production teams to identify areas for electrical system improvements and energy efficiency initiatives.
• Oversee contractors and technicians involved in electrical projects and maintenance.
• Conduct risk assessments for electrical hazards and implement safety protocols.
• Manage spare parts inventory for critical electrical components.
• Stay updated on new technologies and methodologies in industrial electrical engineering.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in an industrial electrical engineering role.
• Strong understanding of industrial control systems, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Experience with troubleshooting electrical issues in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of relevant safety standards (e.g., OHSA, SANS).
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Familiarity with electrical design software is advantageous.
• Must be based in or able to commute regularly to George, Western Cape .
