Fiber Optic Network Planner

Our client, a rapidly expanding telecommunications infrastructure company, is seeking a meticulous Fiber Optic Network Planner to join their team in George, Western Cape . This role is fundamental to the strategic planning and design of our fiber optic network expansion projects. You will be responsible for creating detailed network designs, optimizing routes, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate possesses strong spatial analysis skills, a deep understanding of fiber optic technology, and a passion for building the future of connectivity.

Develop detailed design plans for fiber optic network deployments, including route selection, conduit and cable placement, and splice point locations. Utilize GIS and CAD software to create accurate network maps and documentation. Perform site surveys and feasibility studies to assess network deployment challenges and opportunities. Estimate material, labor, and equipment costs for fiber optic projects. Ensure designs comply with company standards, industry best practices, and local regulations.

Coordinate with construction teams, permitting authorities, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution. Optimize network designs for cost-effectiveness, scalability, and performance. Maintain and update network design databases and documentation. Collaborate with project managers to ensure designs are delivered on time and within budget.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geomatics, or a related technical field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in fiber optic network design and planning. Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD). Solid understanding of fiber optic technologies, standards, and deployment methods. Experience with network planning tools and methodologies. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to conduct field site surveys as needed.
