Mechanical Design Engineer - Aerospace Components

Our client, a specialized firm in the aerospace sector, is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced aerospace components in George, Western Cape . This role requires a meticulous approach to designing and validating complex parts and systems that meet the stringent requirements of the aerospace industry. • Design and develop mechanical components and sub-systems for aerospace applications, adhering to strict industry specifications and performance criteria.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, complex assemblies, and precise manufacturing drawings using advanced CAD software.
• Perform rigorous engineering analyses, including stress, thermal, vibration, and fatigue analysis using FEA tools.
• Ensure designs meet all relevant aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100) and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, quality assurance teams, and suppliers to ensure designs are producible and meet quality standards.
• Manage design documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOMs), design reports, and change orders.
• Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities, analyzing results and implementing design improvements.
• Investigate and resolve design-related issues that may arise during production or field operation.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with specific experience in the aerospace industry being highly preferred.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Solid Works) and advanced FEA simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and aerospace-specific design principles.
• Familiarity with aerospace quality management systems and regulatory standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities, suitable for a hybrid work environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage project tasks effectively.
