Lead Renewable Energy Engineer

Our client, a trailblazer in sustainable energy solutions, is actively recruiting for a Lead Renewable Energy Engineer to spearhead projects in George, Western Cape

You will be responsible for guiding a team of engineers, ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects that meet stringent performance and environmental standards. This role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape the direction of renewable energy development in the region.

• Lead the design and engineering of utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind power projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and resource analysis for new renewable energy installations.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and equipment specifications.
• Manage the entire project lifecycle, from conceptual design through to commissioning and handover.
• Oversee and mentor a team of electrical and renewable energy engineers.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international standards, regulations, and environmental policies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including clients, regulatory bodies, and construction partners.
• Perform system performance analysis and optimization to maximize energy yield and minimize operational costs.
• Manage project budgets, resource allocation, and procurement processes for electrical components.
• Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in the renewable energy industry.

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with a specialization in power systems or renewable energy.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in the design and development of renewable energy projects.
• Demonstrated experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
• In-depth knowledge of solar PV and/or wind turbine technologies, grid integration, and power conversion systems.
• Proficiency in renewable energy modeling software (e.g., PVSyst, Homer Energy, WAsP).
• Strong understanding of South African grid codes and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to travel to project sites as required.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration is a significant advantage.
• Residency in or ability to relocate to George, Western Cape
