About the Role
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Chemist to spearhead their Pharmaceutical Synthesis division in George . This leadership role is crucial for driving innovation in the discovery and development of new drug candidates. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of organic synthesis, process chemistry, and analytical development within the R&D department. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of synthetic organic chemistry, a passion for problem-solving, and a strong ability to manage projects and mentor a team of chemists.

- Lead the design and execution of synthetic routes for complex organic molecules and potential drug candidates.
- Develop and optimize scalable and efficient synthetic processes suitable for manufacturing.
- Oversee analytical method development and validation using techniques like HPLC, GC-MS, and NMR spectroscopy.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets, ensuring timely delivery of research milestones.
- Mentor and supervise a team of research chemists, providing technical expertise and career development support.
- Ensure all laboratory activities adhere to stringent safety protocols and regulatory guidelines (e.g., GMP).
- PhD in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development, with a focus on synthetic and process chemistry.
- Proven expertise in multi-step organic synthesis , reaction optimization, and scale-up.
- Strong analytical skills and hands-on experience with modern spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience managing R&D teams.
