Social Worker - Community Outreach

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Social Worker to lead community outreach initiatives in George . This role is critical in identifying needs within underserved populations and developing targeted programs to address them. You will serve as a key liaison between the community and available support services, facilitating access and building strong collaborative relationships. The ideal candidate will possess a deep commitment to social justice and a proven ability to engage effectively with diverse community groups in the George region, driving positive change and empowerment.

• Conduct needs assessments within the community to identify gaps in services and areas requiring focused intervention.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate community-based programs and support initiatives aimed at improving social welfare.
• Facilitate workshops, support groups, and educational sessions for community members on relevant social issues.
• Collaborate with local government agencies, non-profit organizations, and other stakeholders to coordinate services and advocate for community needs.
• Provide case management and counseling services to individuals and families facing social, economic, or personal challenges.
• Maintain comprehensive case notes and program documentation, ensuring accurate reporting for funding and evaluation purposes.

• Registered Social Worker qualification with the relevant professional body.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in community social work, program development, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in needs assessment, program planning, and evaluation methodologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in report writing and presentation.
• Strong understanding of social welfare legislation, policies, and community resources in the Western Cape .
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, navigating complex community dynamics in George .
