Our client is seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Commercial Fleet Driver to join their operations based in George . This position is critical to ensuring the efficient and secure transportation of goods across the Western Cape region and beyond. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy-duty vehicles, maintaining delivery schedules, and upholding the highest standards of road safety. - Operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently in various traffic and weather conditions.
- Transport goods to designated locations, adhering strictly to delivery schedules and routes.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all safety equipment is functional.
- Manage cargo loading and unloading, ensuring security and proper handling.
- Maintain accurate driver logs and delivery records using company-provided systems.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery status and any potential delays.
- Valid Code 14 driver's license with an up-to-date professional driving permit (PDP).
- Minimum of 5 years verifiable experience as a commercial truck driver.
- Demonstrated knowledge of defensive driving techniques and South African road regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends, serving the George area.
- Excellent physical condition with the ability to perform necessary manual tasks related to cargo.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to react appropriately to unforeseen circumstances on the road.
