About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly organized and proactive Expedited Freight Dispatcher to manage time-sensitive shipments from their operational hub in George . This critical role involves real-time monitoring of freight movement, effective communication with drivers, and rapid problem-solving to meet stringent delivery schedules. You will be instrumental in maintaining the company's reputation for reliability and speed in the Western Cape, contributing to the seamless operation of a vital logistics network.
This position requires individuals who can remain calm and decisive under pressure in a fast-paced dispatch environment.
- Manage and coordinate the dispatch of expedited freight, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries.
- Monitor driver locations and communicate effectively to manage schedules and route adjustments .
- Act as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing support and resolving issues on the road.
- Utilize dispatch software to track shipments, manage loads, and maintain accurate records.
- Respond quickly to unforeseen circumstances, such as traffic delays or vehicle breakdowns, implementing contingency plans.
- Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to ensure client satisfaction regarding delivery times.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in freight dispatching or logistics coordination .
- Familiarity with expedited freight services and time-critical delivery operations.
- Proficiency in using dispatch management software and GPS tracking systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage drivers and clients.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and make quick decisions in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety protocols is essential.
