This is a 1-year, full-time temporary position for the school year only. There is no expectation/guarantee of rehire for temporary staff.

Certification:
Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Exceptional Children Special Education Teacher and Early Childhood Certification. Autism Certification preferred. Applicant must apply for Early Childhood Teacher Certificate in DEEDS.
Education/
Experience:
Must have a minimum of 15 ECE college credits or hold a Child Development Associate credential AND have a minimum of 960 hours of experience working with children birth to 2nd grade.
Requirements:
The following items are required prior to employment:
Clean Criminal Background Check- 1 for the Office of Childcare Licensing and a 2nd for the Indian River School District;
If you have lived/worked out of state in the past 5 years, then an additional state background check may be required.
Clear Child & Adult Protection Registry, satisfactory physical within the past 12 months and TB Clearance
Salary:
Teacher salary schedule based on experience and degree. Salary Schedule can be found on the district website.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts 2 home visits per year for assigned students.
- Additional state and/or district training will be required throughout the school year from the Office of Childcare Licensing/Office of Early Learning
- Teaches assigned classes using the educational philosophy and policies adopted by the Board of Education.
- Utilizes State and District curriculum guidelines in carrying out teaching assignments.
- Uses available resources, plans and implements a program of study that meets students' needs, interests, and abilities.
- Provides a standards-based, content aligned learning framework that establishes clear goals and objectives for all lessons and assignments.
- Interprets and uses data from a variety of educational sources for the improvement of instruction.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Recognizes the importance of parent/guardian and teacher cooperation and confers with parents as appropriate.
- Collaborates with the student support team to support students’ academic, behavioral and mental health needs.
- Maintains a professional relationship, working cooperatively with all school personnel.
- Meets responsibilities as per contractual agreement and State law.
- Participates actively in professional growth activities, collaborative groups and Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
- Encourages students to behave in accordance with classroom and school rules.
- Performs other duties as requested by administration to meet the needs of the students.
