Course

Description:

This course evaluates concepts in landscape construction, reinforces knowledge of plant materials and identification, and interprets elements of design. Topics include interpreting landscape designs, identifying landscape plants, and planting/maintaining trees and shrubs. Landscape construction is emphasized in grading, drainage, paver installation, and landscape equipment use. The course meets Mondays 8:30 am–12:20 pm for a 15‑week term.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and instruct courses as assigned, utilizing effective instructional strategies and technology to promote student success.

Demonstrate sound practices in instruction and classroom management that respond to students’ diverse academic needs.

Follow the prescribed course outline and use departmental texts and supplemental materials.

Provide instruction according to the class schedule and specified instructional hours, notifying the supervisor of cancellations when necessary.

Assist students toward course completion by providing outreach, guidance, and feedback.

Make yourself accessible to answer student questions timely.

Adhere to college policies and procedures, maintain timely student records, and evaluate and report progress.

Encourage course evaluation completion, review summaries, and develop improvement plans.

Attend and participate in college meetings for orientation, professional development, or other assigned activities.

Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Four (4) years of relevant experience.
