Position Overview: The incumbent is responsible for teaching obstetrics nursing courses with classroom and clinical components, as well as some medical surgical nursing courses as needed. The role primarily includes evening teaching, with occasional day and weekend duties. Courses may be delivered face-to-face, hybrid, or online.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and deliver courses using effective instructional strategies, LMS, and technology to promote student success (normal contact hours 18 per week).
- Demonstrate best practices in instruction and classroom management, addressing diverse academic needs.
- Incorporate multimedia and instructional technology to meet learning objectives.
- Assist in developing, revising, and evaluating curricula and courses; contribute to program review.
- Participate in Student Learning Outcomes Assessment (SLOA) planning and implementation.
- Advise students using best advisement practices; provide supplemental instruction and tutoring.
- Maintain timely student records and report progress in the LMS.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support institutional goals; provide guidance to new and adjunct faculty.
- Assist in maintaining program accreditation and complete required professional development programs.
- Planned to attend campus or college-wide committees, advisory meetings, and other duties as assigned.
- Support recruitment, enrollment, and employment activities as needed.
- Provide staffing on day, evening, and weekend programs as requested.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nursing.
- At least four (4) years of relevant nursing experience with a primary focus in adult medical surgical and obstetrics.
- Valid Delaware registered nurse license (or compact state equivalent) at the time of application and employment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of nursing subject matter, teaching methods, clinical skills, and nursing protocols.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Commitment to equal access and opportunity, and ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Proficiency with computers, LMS, and electronic instructional tools.
Professional Development:
- Completion of the New Faculty Development Program (NFDP) during the first year of employment.
- Completion of the Instructional Design & Technology Certificate or demonstration of equivalent competencies.
