Recruitment and Referral Incentives
The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) offers recruitment incentives for nursing positions. Incentives are paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire.
- $10,000.00 for Registered Nurses, Advanced Practice Nurses, Nurse Consultants, Nursing Supervisors, Compliance Nurses.
- $7,500.00 for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- $5,000.00 for Certified Nursing Assistants.
- $1,000 referral bonus to current DHSS employees, paid quarterly over the first year of hire.
New employees must commit to two consecutive years of employment and be newly hired in the State of Delaware to be eligible.
Summary StatementThe incumbent provides nursing services including direct nursing care, assessments, nursing care plans, and coordination of health care services for residents. The incumbent supervises and evaluates care provided by certified nursing assistants and has regular contact with residents, families, nursing staff, physicians, dietary, pharmacy, administration, and other ancillary departments.
Essential Functions- Provide or evaluate direct nursing care.
- Develop, implement, and review nursing care plans.
- Provide health care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups and nursing home facilities.
- Maintain effective working relationships with the treatment team.
- Prepare and submit records, reports, evaluations, and forms.
- Participate in and make recommendations regarding quality assurance activities.
- Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license, Delaware temporary license, or multi‑state compact license.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing OR at least one year experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi‑state compact license.
- At least two years’ experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Master's degree or higher in Nursing.
- Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi‑state compact license.

Conditions of Hire- All new hires attend an in‑person, statewide mandatory New Employee Orientation on their first day.
