Advanced Manufacturing Technology Engineer

Magnit Direct Sourcing on behalf of Toyota is currently hiring for a temporary assignment in Georgetown, KY. This is a 12‑month contract position. Base pay: $70.00/hr – $85.00/hr benefits:

Who We’re Looking For
  • Manufacturing Innovation & Transformation (MIT)—Manufacturing Center of Excellence is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Advanced Manufacturing Technology Engineer.
  • Primary responsibility: develop and implement innovative activities to improve manufacturing competitiveness.
  • Reporting to the MIT Manager, support the Production Engineering Division and SOAR Group’s objective to improve manufacturing competitiveness.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Develop advanced manufacturing technology for future adoption in Toyota’s factory of the future.
  • Independently operate and test advanced robots including industrial arms, inspection systems, and cobot arms.
  • Develop PLC programs and embedded software.
  • Develop, test, and deploy robots, vision systems, and AI/ML solutions.
  • Lead and manage projects from concept to large‑scale launch in production by creating schedules, establishing punch lists, and meeting established due dates and milestones.
  • Integrate robots with existing systems in the factories, including interfacing to PLCs and Wi‑Fi/network systems.
  • Use strong communication skills to create proposals, negotiate roles and responsibilities, and gain approvals.
  • Develop procurement scopes of work and ensure specification is met from planning to production usage.
  • Follow Toyota’s policies and procedures to ensure equipment and process safety.
  • Present reports and updates to stakeholders, management, and executives.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, keep them informed and engaged, and resolve issues.
  • Document the project process and maintain project documentation.
  • Work cross‑functionally with different teams and organizations.
Requirements
  • BS degree in Controls, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or AI/ML.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficiency with ROS or similar robot system software.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including scope development, scheduling, vendor/contractor management, and status reporting.
  • Hands‑on experience in advanced robot development, deployment, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
  • Programming proficiency in C, C++, or Python.
  • Web development skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/Type Script.
  • Strong background in troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with actuators (motor controllers, gear trains, encoders) and sensors (force/torque, cameras, lidars).
  • Knowledge of communication protocols: USB, CAN, RS485, Ether

    CAT, Ethernet/IP.
  • Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%) and work overtime (up to 20%) as needed.
  • Proven track record of deploying machine vision systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and executive presence.

  • Evidence of AI/ML deployed solutions.
  • Proven experience with JSA/JHA.
  • Experience in construction management.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing plant.
  • Project Management certification.
  • Proven experience with securing approval of funding for projects.
  • Working knowledge or Robot Safety Standards, SAE/ISO, NFPA/NEC, and UL standards.
  • Proven experience with conducting machine risk assessments.
  • Experience deploying and troubleshooting vision systems.
  • Experience with programming Toyopuc PLCs.
  • Experience integrating the following products:
    Allen‑Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens, GE, Schneider, Keyence, Cognex, IR Vision, Mitsubishi, IFM, CODESYS, Ignition, MIR, MATLAB, Visual Studio, Otto, ABB, Fanuc, Kawasaki, Universal Robots, Kepware.
  • Sales experience.
