Job Description
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing various welding equipment, fixtures, tooling, and functional quality inspection gauges. You will also be involved in the design of automotive assembly equipment, utilizing Solid Works to create custom Automated Test and Assembly machines. These machines range from simple dollies to complex weld cells containing thousands of individually designed components. Your role will also include structural design and FEA analysis for retrofit modifications on existing robot weld cells currently in production.
Interaction and interfacing with customers on design plans and updates will be minimal, at less than 5%.
- Design various welding equipment, fixtures, tooling, and inspection gauges.
- Develop automotive assembly equipment using Solid Works.
- Perform structural design and FEA analysis for retrofit modifications.
- Incorporate robotics into design projects as needed.
- Interact with customers to update and plan designs.
- Proficiency in Solid Works or other 3D parametric design software.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with machine/equipment design.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience with robotics.
Skills & Qualifications
- Computer programming skills, including writing APIs for Solid Works.
- Experience in machining fabrication, design, and drafting.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, sheet metal, 3D modeling, and laser cutting.
- Experience in new product development.
The work environment is a recently built, well‑lit, clean, and climate‑controlled facility, one of the larger integrator facilities in Georgetown. The role involves both office design work and hands‑on activities on the shop floor. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 8 AM to 5 PM, with a 45‑hour work week being common. Overtime is typically limited to longer hours, with rare weekend work.
The company offers state‑of‑the‑art equipment including a new laser and press brake onsite. As an employee, you will receive 10 floating days after 30 days worked and paid holidays after 6 months.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Georgetown, KY.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
