Day – 8 hour shift (United States of America).
The Oncology Nurse is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on standards of care and professional nursing practice in an oncology setting; accountable for the outcomes of nursing care deliveries in the outpatient oncology and infusion services setting. Provide safe, effective, appropriate and comprehensive infusion services to oncology patients. Monitors drug therapy and identifies drug related problems such as drug‑drug interaction, adverse reactions, and inadequate therapy;
takes appropriate steps to resolve drug related problems. Coordinates, provides and ensures a continuum of care by collaborating with other healthcare providers both within and outside of the organization. The certified oncology nurse demonstrates, through patient care, both specialized knowledge and experience in cancer care. Maintains evidence of training and continued education in oncology specific opportunities and completing other duties as assigned.
You Will Do
- Prioritize and triage patients in clinic and concerned call‑ins by phone. Reporting pertinent information to physician. Document in patient chart and obtained physician signature.
- Evaluate, monitor, and document appropriate drug therapy.
- Provide initial and ongoing education regarding disease and treatment options to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Follow processes and policies to ensure safety and quality of infusion.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) Preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year direct nursing service provision in an oncology setting Preferred
- Experience in outpatient Oncology and Infusion RN services Preferred
- Registered Nurse – South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Required
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate – Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation within 6-9 months of employment Required
- Oncology Certified Nurse – Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (If hired with no current OCN certification, the employee partner will obtain OCN certification at own expense when eligible or maintain 12 cancer related CEU’s annually from the start date of employment or transfer into job with Tidelands Health) Preferred
- Basic Life Support Certified – American Heart Association
