* Under the supervision of the Regulatory Supervisor, the Regulatory Technician. This role contributes to regulatory reporting, laboratory coordination, and water and wastewater quality monitoring to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
** Collect potable water and wastewater samples using automatic samplers or grab sampling techniques in accordance with established standard operating procedures.
* Perform field water and wastewater quality analyses, including temperature readings, chlorine residuals, pH, dissolved oxygen, and other basic parameters.
* Calibrate, operate, and maintain field testing instruments and sampling equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
* Document all sampling activities and field data; enter, transfer, and organize data to support regulatory reporting requirements.
* Coordinate with contracted and in-house laboratories for sample scheduling, preparation, transport, and delivery.
* Review, interpret, and translate laboratory results and field data to assist with compliance evaluations for both drinking water and wastewater programs.
* Perform hydrant flushing on scheduled routes or as assigned to improve water quality and maintain the integrity of the distribution system.
* Assist with wastewater collection system monitoring, including inflow/infiltration sampling, lift station sampling, and compliance monitoring.
* Maintain records, logs, and data required for compliance with TCEQ, EPA, and other regulatory agencies.
* Support field investigations and troubleshooting related to water and wastewater quality issues.
* Perform other duties as assigned.#
** Minimum Qualifications**##
** Education
* ** High School Diploma or equivalent.##
** Experience
* ** Six (6) months of related water, wastewater, or environmental field experience preferred.
** Licenses and Certification Requirements
*** Valid Class "C" Texas driver’s license required. Out-of-state license holders must have a valid license and provide a three-year driving history.
* Must have, or be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire:  +
** Class D Water Operator License
** issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).  +
** Wastewater Collection** (may be required within a specified timeframe depending on department needs).
** Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
**** Knowledge of:
*** Water and wastewater sampling and collection techniques.
* Basic principles of drinking water and wastewater quality.
* Proper handling and use of chemicals used in sampling and field testing.
* Wastewater collection system components and basic operation (preferred).
* Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
*
* Skills and Abilities:

*** Ability to collect accurate water and wastewater samples and perform field tests consistently.
* Ability to read, interpret, and understand laboratory and field test results.
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting equipment, entering field locations, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
** PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
*** Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, crouching, bending, vision, hearing, talking, use of foot controls.
* Works outdoors in hot, cold, and/or wet weather, exposure to noise and vibration from machinery, toxic chemicals and gases, and work with contaminants in wastewater.
** Hiring Range:**  $23.44 - $29.36, hourly.#
