Summary/ObjectivesA Teller III has the responsibility to take ownership of all tasks and challenges that they encounter in the operation of their assigned position.
Essential Functions- Serve customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the South State Bank Service Standards.
- Know and understand the products and services offered by the Bank, including facts, features, benefits, regulations, and price structure.
- Identify customer needs and expectations by listening for clues and seek opportunities to expand customer relationships by making referrals as outlined in the goals for this position.
- Present a neat and professional personal appearance, in accordance with bank policy.
- Know and ensure compliance with all banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Develop a strong understanding of customer‑facing technology and be able to discuss and enroll customers in self‑service options.
- Perform the following teller duties:
- Process transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Assist in guiding and training new tellers.
- Allow customers access to safe deposit boxes.
- Cash checks and process savings withdrawals within assigned limits and in accordance with prescribed procedures.
- Sell certified checks within assigned limits.
- Balance transactions daily.
- Service/Balance ATM.
- Utilize the branch capture system.
- Follow policies and procedures to complete transactions, minimize operational errors, and maintain proper workflow.
- Follow the branch’s security and audit procedures and understand the function and operation of security devices.
- Minimum of 24 months experience or demonstrated expertise in the Teller II job function and demonstrate willingness and ability to perform the duties of the Teller III position.
- Additional responsibilities may include vault responsibilities or backup vault responsibilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
Cash handling, sales, customer service. Previous banking experience preferred. - Specific knowledge:
Good interpersonal and computer skills; ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

- Teller Foundations.
- All assigned regulatory compliance training.
- Acknowledgement of all policies through Docu Sign as assigned.
- Additional training may be required depending on experience.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand and/or sit for long periods of time. Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations, and identify customers.
This position is most likely in an open lobby area with an individual workstation. The position is located inside a cooled and heated facility with ability to go to a break room or restroom during breaks.
TravelTravel may be required to attend meetings and training as needed.
