• Provide a well‑stocked, well‑maintained department while delivering superior customer service.
• Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product on a daily basis while maintaining all department and food safety / sanitation standards.
• Take orders from customers by telephone or in person and answer their questions regarding products.
• Use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales.
• Clean and sanitize display cases, operate / maintain equipment properly, comply with H‑E‑B food safety and sanitation standards, and follow department / store operating procedures.
• Assist in technical areas as needed (e.g., baking, frying, decorating) and record production/shrink for planning.
• Support the deli, prepared foods, and bakery sub‑departments as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong customer service skills and initiative to step up and do what needs doing.
• Knowledge of computer systems and equipment (PC, symbol, scales, label machine).
• Physical ability to lift 50–70 lbs (dependent on department) and perform tasks that require reaching, bending, walking, standing, and manual handling.

• Minimum age 18 (mandatory).
• Completion of company orientation, food safety, and sanitation training upon hire.
