Responsible for inspecting, servicing and maintaining our range of heavy‑duty construction equipment. As a mechanic, you will travel with the crew to job sites, inspect engines and equipment, complete service repairs as needed, and provide routine maintenance to the construction fleet.
Responsibilities- Traveling with the crew to the job sites.
- Inspecting trucks, pavers, loaders, rollers, crack seal machines, skid steers, and other equipment for proper performance.
- Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment.
- Troubleshooting reported problems and resolving them in a timely manner.
- Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts.
- Repairing damaged equipment parts.
- Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy‑duty vehicles.
- Cleaning and servicing of all attachments.
- Performing major repair work when necessary.
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management.
- Keeping equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, and completing winterization procedures.
- Providing documentation of all maintenance and repairs.
- Coordinating equipment repairs requested by superintendent and foreperson.
- Performing quarterly inspections on trucks and equipment.
- Maintaining acceptable Nevada Class A and/or Class C driver’s license (clean DMV record).
- Demonstrating safety consciousness, a strong work ethic, exceptional attitude & attendance traits.
- Working drug and alcohol free at all times, enforcing the company’s drug and alcohol policy.
- Demonstrating team skills on an ongoing basis.
- Good communication skills.
- Proper certification as heavy equipment mechanic.
- Proven work experience as a diesel and/or heavy equipment mechanic.
- Ability to work within a fast‑paced environment as an integral member of a dynamic team.
- Ability to lift heavy machinery.
- Assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm’s length.
- Operate machines, motor vehicles, hand tools, and job‑specific equipment and tools.
- Walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch.
- Work in various inside and outside environments that may involve weather changes, noise, vibrations, job hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
- Welding is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work after‑hours if required.
- Availability to work weekends and out of town.
