About the Role:

Transportation Auction Consultants (TAC) is seeking an experienced Automotive Title Clerk to join our team.

This is NOT an entry-level title clerk position.

We are specifically looking for candidates who have hands-on experience processing motor vehicle titles and title-related documents in a dealership, automotive auction, tag/title agency, DMV, or similar automotive environment.

Applicants without automotive title-processing experience should not apply.

Applicant will work with and report directly to the Title Department Manager daily. Each work day may vary slightly depending on the volume of titles needing processing versus the volume needing to be checked into the system.

Responsibilities:

The Automotive Title Clerk will independently process and manage vehicle titles and related documentation from receipt through completion. You must be comfortable identifying title problems, researching discrepancies, and following through until issues are resolved.

Responsibilities include:
  • Process vehicle titles, transfers, reassignments, and related ownership documents
  • Review titles for correct ownership, signatures, assignments, odometer information, liens, and required documentation
  • Identify incomplete, incorrect, altered, or problematic title paperwork
  • Research and resolve title discrepancies
  • Quickly and accurately identify title brands/legends and odometer discrepancies
  • Handle documentation for duplicate titles and title corrections
  • Review dealer reassignment paperwork
  • Track outstanding and pending titles and actively follow up until received
  • Communicate with sales team, customers, lienholders, financial institutions, tag/title agencies, and state agencies
  • Prepare title packages for processing, mailing, customer pickup, or transfer
  • Maintain accurate electronic and physical title records
  • Respond to buyer and seller title questions
  • Ability to use and understand the Secretary of State's website for business searches, registered agents, and assist with UCC lien checks
  • Work closely with our title department manager, accounting, sales, and administrative teams
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive customer and company information
  • Ensure title transactions are completed accurately and within required time frames
Requirements:
  • Prior automotive title-processing experience required (General administrative experience alone does not qualify)

High school diploma or equivalent

Strong computer and data-entry skills

Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to maintain accuracy while handling a high volume of transactions

Previous automotive title experience strongly preferred

  • Experience working with a dealership, automotive auction, tag/title agency, DMV, or similar automotive business is highly desirable

Knowledge of vehicle titles, lien releases, reassignment documents, and title transfer procedures

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in title documentation

Comfortable working with computers, electronic records, scanning, and document management systems

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Professional and dependable with a strong work ethic

Someone who has strong attention to detail, understands the importance of the chain of ownership, and can think critically beyond the documentation provided. The ability to process multiple titles, answer phones, and maintain accurate notes across multiple platforms/spreadsheets.
