Field Superintendent - Commercial Construction at Ameritech Facility Services, LLC
Job DescriptionNon‑exempt position reporting to the Project Manager. The Field Superintendent provides onsite coordination for all phases of a construction project, supervising employees, coordinating subcontractors, managing materials and equipment, and ensuring specifications are strictly followed. Responsibilities include scheduling, inspections, quality control, job site safety, and maintaining the project schedule and budget. A deep background in HVAC and refrigeration is required.
Job Responsibilities / Essential Functions- Effective communication with Project Manager, customers and crews to ensure complete understanding of project scope.
- Supervise Ameritech employees as required (Lead Tech, Tech, Helpers, etc.).
- Coordinate subcontractors, ensuring they fully execute and comply with the scope of work.
- Meet with customers and store personnel to review projects.
- Recognize problems outside of scope and address them with the customer.
- Understand jobsite protocols specific to the project and site.
- Provide detailed written daily and weekly reports to Project Manager.
- Ensure all materials needed are on site on time to maintain schedule.
- Schedule crews to meet customer timelines.
- Ensure each team member is aware of quality standards and company policies and maintain the quality of workmanship.
- Create and maintain positive relationships with employees, customers, suppliers/vendors and subcontractors.
- Maintain harmony among workers, resolve conflicts with tact, and report crew performance to Project Manager.
- Maintain composure when faced with adverse situations and rapidly changing environments.
- Always maintain professionalism, diplomacy and sensitivity to portray the company positively.
- Ensure adequate rest for self and crew to complete projects safely.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Identify and rectify job hazards immediately.
- Facilitate purchasing of needed materials.
- May perform surveys and estimate jobs.
- Perform duties with minimal supervision.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and experience in general contracting.
- Leadership position in HVAC.
- General knowledge of all trades.
- Demonstrated ability to use hand tools.
- Professional demeanor, selling style, and appearance.
- Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers.
- Proven problem‑solving skills for customers and the company.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently to meet or exceed goals.
- Excellent organizational planning, communication and time‑management skills.
- Ability to complete projects on time and under budget.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity and work ethic.
- Computer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications.
- Knowledge of construction safety and safety procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized.
- Supervisory experience.
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of construction experience.
- Must be able to pass a drug test and a background check.
- Valid and active driver’s license.
- Reliable transportation to reach customer locations.
- Dependable and able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
- Ability to travel 80‑100% of the time.
- Move around the work site, working around people and equipment.
- Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder or stairs.
- Operate tools or equipment and position oneself to install or remove equipment, including maneuvering in small spaces.
- Required to sit, talk and hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move equipment or materials up to 50 pounds.
- Use hands to type, handle, or feel objects, tools and computer controls.
- Basic vision requirements (close and distance vision).
- Frequently communicate with customers and co‑workers while performing job tasks.
