Job Summary

The Clayton State University Department of Film, Communication, and Performing Arts is seeking a part-time instructor to serve a program that includes undergraduate degrees in Music and in Stage and Screen (Theatre) by teaching dance courses, beginning in Spring 2026.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will become a key faculty member in an elective certificate program in Musical Theatre attached to the BA in Music and BA in Stage and Screen degrees.

Courses available in the rotation include dance history; choreography; beginning and intermediate levels of jazz, modern, and ballet technique; and a performance lab course to choreograph and rehearse dance for productions of opera and musical theatre. Candidates should be prepared to help students from various majors and at all skill levels. Candidates who also meet accreditation requirements for teaching music or theater courses (18 hours of graduate work in music or theater) and have experience teaching music or theater classes (for example, commercial vocal techniques or introduction to theatre) are encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications
  • Required minimum qualifications include a Master's degree and at least 18 graduate hours in Dance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidates who also meet accreditation requirements for teaching music or theater courses (18 hours of graduate work in music or theater) and have experience teaching music or theater classes (for example, commercial vocal techniques or introduction to theatre) are encouraged to apply.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Candidates should be familiar with instruction in dance history; choreography; beginning and intermediate levels of jazz, modern, and ballet technique; and a performance lab course to choreograph and rehearse dance for productions of opera and musical theatre.
