Qualifications- Special education certification issued by the GaPSC
- Ability to work with administrators, faculty and staff, students, parents/guardians and the general public
- Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of tasks assigned
- Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
To provide appropriate, specialized instruction for students ages 3-5 with disabilities or developmental delays, helping them reach their full potential.
Performance Responsibilities- Follow professional practices consistent with school and system policies in working with students, student records, parents, and colleagues.
- Communicate with parents/guardians and students about achievement, expectations, behavior, and upcoming events.
- Maintain confidentiality of students and students’ records.
- Work cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents.
- Comply with school, system, and state administrative regulations and Board of Education policies.
- Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of the Individual Education Program (IEP) for students assigned to the classroom.
- Implement strategies to meet the cognitive, social/emotional, physical, adaptive, and language/communication needs of students.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and appropriate records.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and other school-related events or activities.
- Demonstrate professional practices in teaching and model correct grammar and usage.
- Implement designated curriculum and ensure students receive all services assigned.
- Protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assume responsibility for supervising students in out-of-class settings.
- Attend all meetings concerning their students and follow Due Process procedures.
- Provide adequate information, plans, and materials for a substitute teacher.
- Perform other duties as needed and assigned by the principal or designee.
