Job SummaryThe Mechanical Designer – Piping 2 is responsible for delivering 3D piping and equipment designs for retrofit, environmental, and new power generation projects. This role involves developing 2D orthographic and isometric drawings, P&IDs, pipe support designs, and 3D models, working closely with engineers and multi-discipline designers to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant designs. The ideal candidate is experienced in mechanical piping systems, with a strong background in heavy industrial and power generation facilities.
KeyResponsibilities
Develop 3D piping/equipment designs for retrofit and new construction projects.
Produce high-quality 2D orthographic and isometric drawings, P&IDs, and pipe support designs.
Collaborate with engineers and designers across disciplines to ensure integrated and safe design solutions.
Apply applicable codes and standards to all design tasks.
Conduct field walkdowns to gather data for design deliverables.
Prepare material take-offs and support procurement and construction planning.
Check design drawings and documents for accuracy and completeness.
Work efficiently on multiple concurrent large projects and meet deadlines.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical piping system design.
Experience with new construction and/or retrofit of power generation facilities (or similar heavy industrial facilities) required.
Proficiency in 3D modeling tools for piping system layout and design.
Experience with AutoPLANT and/or AVEVA design tools desired.
Strong experience in producing:
2D orthographic and isometric drawings
P&IDs and pipe supports
3D piping and equipment models
Solid understanding of mechanical piping systems and related industry codes and standards.
Experience preparing and checking design drawings and material take-offs.
Proven ability to manage multiple large projects concurrently with attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Self-motivated, team player, and skilled at building relationships with plant staff, design engineering teams, and vendors.
Ability to work independently while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
