Job Summary

Process Engineer will maximize plant production and optimize KPIs while ensuring all products are manufactured within environmental and quality specifications. The role focuses on process engineering, analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead by example and embody CEMEX mission, vision, and values.
  • Initiate, develop, and implement plant improvement projects to eliminate equipment restrictions, improve KPI performance, and commission equipment.
  • Provide technical expertise to plant personnel, including training requirements, performance gap analysis, and creation of instructions, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure equipment performs at or above rated operational capacities; conduct mass and heat balances, hydraulic calculations, equipment diagnostics, instrumentation validation, PID optimization, and heat/power consumption optimization.
  • Improve alternative fuel and fuel performance, grind media, refractory performance, and environmental reagent usage.
  • Make decisions and hold accountability to reach objectives with daily performance follow‑up.
  • Maintain data logs, including previous conclusions, action follow‑up, process flow charts, equipment information, and championship tools.
  • Execute action follow‑up on all described activities.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Adhere to CEMEX, MSHA, OSHA, and other safety rules; wear proper safety equipment on plant grounds.
  • Ensure plant personnel work safely and have required tools; conduct risk assessments and follow‑ups on safety hazards.
  • Provide training and support for safe, productive performance; correct deviations and maintain safety standards.
  • Participate in safety committees, risk assessment, training, standard work, and safety program development.
  • Investigate near misses and accidents.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or related major.
  • 5+ years progressive experience in heavy industrial manufacturing; cement process experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of raw geologic materials, crushing, grinding, blending, kiln processing, cooling, and conveyance.
  • 2–5 years progressive experience in cement (alternative requirement).
  • Availability to address issues as needed.

  • Cement experience with quality, operation, and maintenance.
  • Problem‑solving and creative thinking.
  • Leadership, communication, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • Result‑oriented decision making and analytical mindset.
  • Planning and coordination of activities with personnel and departments.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Working Conditions
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, and outdoor work.
  • Must wear protective equipment.
  • Tobacco‑free environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Walk, sit, lift, push, pull up to 100 lb occasionally, 50 lb frequently, 20 lb constantly.
  • Talk and hear regularly; communicate around heavy rolling equipment.
  • Capable of working at heights and confined spaces.
  • Pass DOT physical, hearing test, and drug/alcohol screening.
