We are currently seeking a Resource Management Forester to join our Suwannee Region team in Fargo, GA. This role offers the opportunity to manage approximately 150,000 acres of timberlands, applying cutting‑edge silvicultural practices and operational strategies to maximize forest health, growth, and value. What You’ll Do:

As a Resource Management Forester, you will be part of a regional team managing approximately 150,000 acres of company‑owned timberlands. You’ll focus on sustainable forest management, employing research‑based, site‑specific silvicultural and operational tools to maximize forest health, growth, and value.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:
  • Plan and execute forest management activities: site preparation, regeneration, competition control, nutrient management.
  • Develop and administer budgets and capital plans; manage production costs and contracts.
  • Build technical knowledge of soils, silvics, genetics, and forestry practices.
  • Create and submit accurate silviculture plans in accordance with operational calendars.
  • Monitor BMP and EMS compliance; support certification programs (SFI, FSC).
  • Conduct forest inventory and management cruises for informed decision‑making.
  • Utilize GIS systems, inventory, analysis, and modeling tools for planning.
  • Develop relationships with contractors and service providers for silviculture operations.
  • Support company safety programs and exhibit safety as a core value.

Key Responsibilities (Wood Flow Integration):
  • Coordinate wood flow logistics to ensure timely delivery of raw materials to mills.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with logging contractors and transportation providers.
  • Monitor inventory levels and adjust wood flow schedules to meet production demands.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards during wood transportation.
  • Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to optimize supply‑chain efficiency.
  • Analyze wood flow data to identify cost‑saving opportunities and improve operational performance.
Required Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of silviculture and forest management activities.
  • Ability to budget, forecast, and monitor forest operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and GIS tools (ArcGIS).
  • Effective teamwork and problem‑solving in complex situations.
Required Experience:
  • Forester I:
    Up to 1–2 years of relevant experience.
  • Forester II: 3–4 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain Registered Forester (RF) license.
Preferred Skills/

Experience:
  • Familiarity with forest certification programs (SFI, FSC).
  • Experience with forest inventory systems and modeling tools.
  • Knowledge of contractor capabilities and equipment for silviculture operations.
A Day in the Life:

You’ll spend time in the field conducting inventories, monitoring compliance, and overseeing silviculture treatments. Office work includes planning, budgeting, and using GIS tools to develop management strategies. Collaboration with internal teams and contractors is key to achieving sustainable forest management goals.
