Position Overview
The City of Harlem is now accepting applications for a Career Firefighter.
Annual Base Salary (estimated) $47,500.00 (not including built-in and additional overtime, training, or holiday pay).
ResponsibilitiesPosition
Description:
This position is responsible for responding to various emergency situations, including fires, traffic accidents, medical emergencies, and hazardous materials incidents. Duties will include fire suppression, search and rescue, apparatus driving and pumping, and emergency medical care, as well as cleaning/inspection of equipment, data entry, routine maintenance/repair and community outreach.
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Georgia Class F driver's license
- Emergency Medical Responder certification or higher (EMT certification or higher preferred)
- Merit/cost of living increase system
- Health, vision and dental insurance (100% city paid for employee, 70% city paid for dependents)
- $25,000 term life insurance policy city paid
- 401a/457b retirement plan (3% city paid contribution with optional 3% match)
- PTO plan with accrual based on years of service (159 hours first year)
- 14 paid days of holiday to include one floating holiday taken at employee's discretion
- Georgia State Firefighters Association dues city paid
- Georgia Firefighters' Pension Fund due city paid
- Family Y membership city paid for employee; attendance requirement
A post-offer physical agility test, medical clearance, drug screening and background check will be required
