Job Description - Hospitality Aide (2515995)
Hospitality Aide – provides routine daily nursing care and services to assigned patients according to the patient’s assessment, care plan, and nurse supervisor directions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Applies and releases restraints; provides exercise and range‑of‑motion exercises for residents.
- Assists residents in and out of bed, in wheelchair, and during transfers using the transfer belt and proper body mechanics.
- Assists with bathing (bed baths, tub baths, showers) and personal grooming (oral/denture care, hair brushing, fingernail/truney trimming, skin care, shaving).
- Assists residents to activities, dining area, and meals; passes food trays in accordance with diet cards and documents intake of nourishment; identifies the four basic food groups on breakfast, lunch, and dinner trays.
- Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers; understands and utilizes care plans.
- Cleans bedpans, empties catheter bags, provides external/indwelling catheter care, and provides incontinent care as needed.
- Offers fluids at appropriate times (routine ice and water rounds) and distributes fresh water to patients and picks up used water pitchers.
- Properly documents in accordance with established guidelines; receives and gives reports on patient status or condition and notifies nurse of any changes in resident condition.
- Reports skin irritation around ostomy bag to the Charge Nurse; reports problems with ostomy bag to the Charge Nurse.
- Provides routine care for bedfast patients; turns residents intermittently if patient is bedridden due to illness.
- Recognizes and reports signs/symptoms of abuse to Charge Nurse/Administrator; identifies and reports change in condition to Charge Nurse.
- Removes bedding and replaces with clean linens per schedule or condition.
- Takes vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, respiration) and records information and documents/reports information regarding the patient’s health, I&O, any change of medical condition, and care given.
- Communicates well with patients/residents/clients and family members; provides warm and friendly greeting and approachable demeanor.
- Responds to expressed concerns displaying a helpful, caring demeanor.
- Answers questions appropriately in a professional manner.
- Participates in center/agency surveys (Licensure/JCAHO) and any subsequently required reports.
- Attends continuing educational programs to keep abreast of changes in your field; attends mandatory in‑services.
- Honors patients/residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self‑determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints.
- Complies with corporate compliance program; reports job‑related functions/tasks involving occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids and others as necessary.
- Follows established safety regulations (fire protection & prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.) and safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment.
- Performs other related duties as necessary and as directed by the nurse supervisor.
Some High School or High School Diploma or GED required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUAREDOn‑the‑job training provided.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUARED BY LAWTemporary Nurse Aide must not have adverse findings on Criminal Background Checks. Temporary Nurse Aide must demonstrate competency to provide nursing services consistent with CMS Waiver requirements.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Preferred)High school graduate preferred. Previous experience preferred. Familiarity and willingness to work with elderly population.
