Summary
This role is responsible for providing legal advices, drafting legal documents, resolving legal disputes, and managing a compliance system. The Senior Legal Counsel will work closely with the business teams to ensure that all legal matters are handled in a timely, efficient, and appropriate manner.
Responsibilities- Advise and provide counselling in a variety of legal and compliance topics.
- Provide legal and compliance training to everyone in the organization.
- Review company policies and practices on a regular basis to ensure compliance.
- Provide oversight, direction, and maintenance of the compliance program.
- Offer timely legal advice and practical solutions to HR and labor disputes, including employee relations issues, disciplinary matters, and collective bargaining concerns.
- Conduct risk assessments and produce reports for compliance meetings.
- Prepare for audits and investigations by developing strategies, maintaining records, and designing procedures.
- Prepare, review, and negotiate company contracts and other legal documents.
- Generate accurate work product quickly as requested.
- Manage outside counsel relationships, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Regular and reliable on‑site attendance is required.
- Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensed to practice law in good standing in the state of Georgia or any other jurisdiction.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures.
- Minimum of 7 years of legal experience.
- Law firm or global in‑house counsel legal department work experience preferred.
- Experience practicing law in engineering, automotive supply, or similar fields preferred.
- Experience with and exposure to corporate compliance, labor & employment issues, and safety & environmental issues.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and complex problem‑solving skills.
- Judgment and decision making.
- Excellent business and legal judgment, with a superior ability to assess risk and determine priorities based on that risk and the needs of the business.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills (both oral and written). Ability to communicate legal issues clearly and understandably, inspiring trust and confidence through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bilingual in English and Korean preferred for effective coordination with HQ and regulatory bodies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and report writing.
- Excellent analytical, communication, research, and writing skills.
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
- Effective organization and management skills to handle independent caseloads presenting multiple simultaneous priorities.
