Building Maintenance Manager

Summary

Primarily responsible for the maintenance, operation, and oversight of building facilities, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations while managing budgets effectively. This role involves coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance, supervising external vendors and contractors, and optimizing facility operations to support production needs. The Building Maintenance Assistant Manager also plays a key role in implementing sustainability initiatives, ensuring workplace safety, and responding promptly to facility‑related issues to minimize operational disruptions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
• Proficiency in maintenance management software (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite. Relevant certifications (e.g., CFM, PMP, LEED, OSHA certification) are preferred.
• Familiarity with safety regulations, building codes, and compliance requirements (e.g., OSHA, NFPA).
• 3 – 5 years of experience in facility management, building maintenance, or similar roles.

• Strong understanding of facility management principles and best practices, particularly in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other critical building systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to generate reports and maintenance schedules.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate with internal departments, external vendors, and contractors. Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety and operational efficiency.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and address facility‑related issues efficiently.
• Familiarity with safety regulations, building codes, and compliance standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, EPA).
• Proficiency in building management systems (BMS), computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and other maintenance software.

• Oversee the operation and maintenance of building facilities, ensuring all systems function properly, efficiently, and safely to support production activities.
• Establish and enforce safety procedures, emergency response plans, and best practices for facility management.
• Monitor and evaluate the quality of maintenance work, ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Manage budgets, control costs, and seek opportunities to optimize energy efficiency and reduce operational expenses.
• Collaborate with internal departments to address facility needs, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Respond promptly to and resolve facility‑related emergencies, including mechanical failures, power outages, and environmental hazards.
• Ensure adherence to building codes, OSHA standards, NFPA regulations, and other relevant safety and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers for facility upkeep, repairs, and capital improvement projects.
• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. May require on‑call availability for emergencies or plant issues outside regular working hours.
