About the Role:
The Quality Lab Technician plays a critical role in ensuring that manufacturing products meet stringent quality standards through precise testing and analysis. This position involves conducting a variety of chemical, physical, and analytical tests to evaluate raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods. The technician will utilize laboratory equipment and software tools to collect accurate data, interpret results, and support continuous improvement initiatives within the production process.
By maintaining rigorous documentation and adhering to safety and quality protocols, the technician helps to minimize defects and optimize product performance. Ultimately, this role contributes to delivering high-quality products that comply with industry regulations and customer expectations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent;
Associate degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field preferred. - Proven experience in a quality laboratory environment within the manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in performing chemical and physical tests using standard laboratory equipment.
- Familiarity with production processes and quality control methodologies.
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis software such as Minitab.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline.
- Experience with etching techniques and advanced sample preparation methods.
- Certification in quality control or laboratory safety standards.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data interpretation and reporting.
- Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Perform chemical, physical, and analytical tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Prepare samples accurately using established procedures such as etching and other sample preparation techniques.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration and proper functioning to guarantee reliable test results.
- Record, analyze, and report test data using software tools like Minitab to identify trends and support quality improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot quality issues and implement corrective actions within the manufacturing process.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Document all testing activities and results thoroughly to support audits and quality assurance processes.
Skills:
The Quality Lab Technician applies chemical test skills daily to analyze material composition and ensure product integrity. Proficiency with laboratory equipment and sample preparation techniques, including etching, enables accurate and consistent testing outcomes. Knowledge of production processes allows the technician to understand the context of test results and collaborate effectively with manufacturing teams.
