What You’ll Be Responsible For In This RoleThe Forklift Driver will drive electric powered, or propane powered industrial truck with lifting devices such as a forklift to push, pull, lift, stack, tier or move products, material, and equipment. This person will be responsible for obtaining and transporting proper packaging supplies to production staging area from warehouse storage, as well as transport pallets of finished product from production to shipping areas in a timely manner.
- Collect, rotate, dumps and stores raw product into cull trailers, rotate stock in cold storage on rare occasion, inventories stock in cold storage, and accomplishes all other tasks requiring the use of specified heavy equipment
- Obtain supplies from warehouse storage racks for production and transport to appropriate staging areas as required
- Remove packing, banding and place in proper receptacles, remove empty pallets, cardboard packing, and strapping to the dumpster or other appropriate receptacles
- Transport pallets of finished product from production to shipping areas with Forklift
- Inspect equipment at beginning and end of each shift
- At the end of the shift, responsible for removal of raw product and solid waste from food contact surface and properly clean and sanitize the production facility area/grounds and equipment
- Cover and protect sensitive equipment with canvas/plastic cover
- Apply cleaning chemicals to all machinery
- Use centralized and/or portable foaming systems
- Help disassemble equipment.
- Apply heavy-duty chemicals to breakdown accumulated sugars
- Apply concentrated sanitizer to walls and overhead
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School/GED or six to nine months of experience in related field or combination of both education and experience
- Forklift Certification
Skills And Abilities
- Read, write and communicate as it relates to the job and safety regulations.
- Ability to use the equipment and tools used to perform the job.
- Ability to take direction from supervision.
- Good mathematical skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
- Previous experience using a warehouse management system which includes RF scan guns, VMU units, and handheld RF units
- Knowledge of Red Prairie and WMS, preferred
- Ability to ascend and descend ramps, steps, ladders, stairs using three-point contact.
- Environment exposure_ hot/humid conditions (95 ° or above).
- Environmental exposure –cold/wet conditions (40 ° or below).
- Ability to work in warehouse/cold storage/shipping dock (34 degrees).
- Occasional exposure to environmental factors such as fumes, airborne particles and vibrations.
- Ability to lift, carry, push and/pull up to 50 lbs.; stand for prolonged periods of time; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist; climb steps/stairs.
- Ability to use hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, and handle scanning objects in one position or in a repetitive motion for an extended period of time.
