Saw Operator -- 1st Shift
Metals USA has an immediate opening for a Saw Operator -- 1st Shift in the Oakwood, GA facility. The Saw Operator performs advanced production activities requiring a demonstrated high level of skill and proficiency in material handling, production processes and multiple machine operation acquired through extended experience and training.
Hourly Rate: starting at $20/hr + depending on experience.
- Sets up machine track, selects proper burning tip, sets gas flow and machine feed rates.
- Positions work pieces for machine processing by cutting, sawing and grinding (may operate a combination of different machines)
- Uses gauges, calipers, squares or rulers for measurement.
- Determines processing specifications such as materials, burning tips, location of cutting lines, dimensions, tolerances and operational sequences.
- Reviews blueprints, work orders, tooling instructions or other written specifications
- Sets up and aligns specified material or other fixtures in machine bed using gauges, templates, shims or hand tools.
- Adjusts controls to set depth and feed rates.
- Performs quality control inspections on finished product; for ISO-certified locations, performs In Process Quality Inspections
- Diagnoses problems and makes necessary adjustments and removes scrap from machine.

Qualifications- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Ability to read work order instructions, safety, and policy manuals
- Measuring skills to read English & Metric systems and a tape measure, caliper, gauges, or micrometer
- Must have arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions
- Experience using an overhead crane / forklift
- Ability to use hand tools including grinder
- Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination
- Computer Literacy;
Microsoft Products, CAD Programming and ERP - Must be organized with attention to detail
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
